We like our sports around here. And our kids are at the age where we can hang out on a Sunday afternoon with a game on (yesterday it was Eagles vs. Redskins) and have some snacks and Rainbow Loom the afternoon away. It's not a bad set up. Especially when mom and dad have been out the night before and need a little, ahem, recovery time. And yesterday was one of those days. But as I tried to browse the December InStyle with one eye on the game and one eye on any impending Rainbow Loom … [Read more...] about three things i don’t want to explain to my kids

So much good stuff this week. Lots to share... I was so excited to come across this interview with author and fellow introvert Susan Cain. Which led me to her TED talk. Which led me to ordering her book, Quiet. As an introvert, I feel like I have been trying my whole life to fight against my nature, but Susan's work is a good reminder that the world needs introverts too. If you're an introvert or love an introvert, the TED talk is a great place to start. Loved this article in the New York … [Read more...] about what kaly found v.7
the trader joe’s incident
Trader Joe's is my happy place. And even though it's small and crowded and it takes a lot of maneuvering and circling to get what you need, I'm hook, line and sinker for their brand and philosophy and I do the majority of my food shopping there. I'm a regular. I know where everything is and more than once I've helped shoppers locate an item. I've even helped little old ladies get things off the top shelf. When we moved, I picked our new neighborhood based on its close proximity to Trader Joe's. … [Read more...] about the trader joe’s incident
three things i’m grateful for: myself edition
I'm trying to beat everyone else to the punch and get my gratitude post in well before Thanksgiving. Before we're too bogged down with stuffing recipes and crafty place tags and Black Friday ads and gratitude becomes a forced discussion around the dinner table where my kids say things like "I'm grateful for Clash of Clans." Gratitude is more than saying thank you. It's a deep appreciation for what you have. And often we look externally - to our relationships and the people in our life that … [Read more...] about three things i’m grateful for: myself edition

Blockbuster is closing all if its stores and my first reaction was "They still have stores?" And frankly I was more interested in the Twitter IPO and the CEO of lululemon sticking his foot in his mouth (pending my future ambassadorship and all). Then I read this article about video stores, and it brought me right back to Turtles in the Killearn Shopping Center. It's weird to realize that there are parts of my childhood that my kids will never know a thing about. RIP Blockbuster. If you lived … [Read more...] about what kaly found v.6
my career as a yoga model
I'm on a yoga kick. I like the physical movement, but I also like the spiritual side of it. I'm feeling pretty good about my practice. I could probably push myself a tiny bit more to get out of my comfort zone, but right now I'm just enjoying feeling competent and even confident in my ability. Yesterday when I got to class, there was a photographer there to take pictures of the instructor who is also the owner of the studio and an ambassador for lululemon (a retailer of yoga and exercise … [Read more...] about my career as a yoga model
three things about when to play hooky
First things first - thank you to everyone that responded to my three things* post last week. Your comments, shares and likes were so inspiring. I was grinning ear to ear all week, feeling like I'm on to something and excited about where to go from here. Even if I don't make the final cut for the Babble Top 100 Blogs of 2013. I feel like I've gotten some great exposure. I owe you. Big time. And coming off of last week, I am accepting that some days are just meant to be hooky days. I wrote two … [Read more...] about three things about when to play hooky

I'm afraid my brain is feeling a little like jelly today. This post is competing with Halloween, birthdays, house guests, insomnia and now this bee flying around the bench I'm sitting on. Let's just say I have a few things going on. If you missed my advice for new parents, don't forget to check it out. For some reason I can't understand (because my brain is feeling like jelly today), the email for the post didn't go out. But you can link to it here. This week I've been thinking about the … [Read more...] about what kaly found v.5
