A few weeks ago, I wrote about taking risks and a Risk Challenge held by Live in the Grey that I had entered and ended up winning. I recently cashed in my prize - a free hour long coaching session with career coach Caroline Zwick. I was excited for my session. First of all, I live for this stuff. I am a self-help, therapy, coaching, self-reflection junkie. And second of all, after a few years of career uncertainty and taking the time to maybe get it right this time, I've had some major … [Read more...] about career coach

what kaly found – retirement party
I'm creeping up on one year of blogging about everything under the sun and doing my best to always keep it real. And in my effort to keep it real, I'm always questioning, seeking, reevaluating and overthinking. It's just how I roll. It's time for some changes. It's time to unleash another iteration of this blog into the world. Don't panic. The blog is not going away. Just take a few deep breaths. And no, I'm not pregnant which always seems to be the next question. But I am … [Read more...] about what kaly found – retirement party
risky business
A few weeks ago I decided to participate in a Risk Challenge. For ten days Live in the Grey would give me a risk to take, and I would bravely take on whatever they threw at me. I had no idea what to expect. Live in the Grey is a resource dedicated to helping you combine what you do with what you love. Their philosophy is that career and passion should not be separate. They should overlap - that's the grey part - and the best life is one where your work is your passion and your passion is your … [Read more...] about risky business
three things about resistance
I am throwing a lot of personal development at you lately, but I guess that's just the space I'm in right now. I promise I haven't totally lost my sense of humor. I guess I'm just trying to keep myself motivated and on track and one step ahead of resistance. I had an idea in the fall for a pretty big project. I'm not ready to go into specifics just yet, but when I decide to make some sort of public declaration of intent, you'll be the first to know. But I had this idea and was feeling very … [Read more...] about three things about resistance
three things i’m tossing out the window
I’m going a little tough love on myself this week. I have some go-to excuses that I’ve been using (admittedly for years) that keep me from getting to the things that I say are really important to me. We all have that list whether it’s the big sort of dreams that we’re not going after or the little daily choices like eating healthy or staying organized. So it’s time to banish the excuses and get down to business. Here are three things I’m tossing out the window… 1. There's a right way. I'm the … [Read more...] about three things i’m tossing out the window
it’s enough
I’ve been waiting for this week. I’ve been living by the refrain…when the kids go back to school. But this week is kind of a false start – we had Monday off for Labor Day and then Thursday and Friday off for Rosh Hashanah. That’s only two days of school to work with. Not enough time to get into a groove on anything. So I decided that I would give myself the gift of two days. After a long weekend of having guests and getting ready for those guests (we had a great visit with my brothers and … [Read more...] about it’s enough
you say tomato
I think I might have just solved my own problem. My last post was a boatload of excuses about why I couldn’t get my act together to blog. And since I’ve posted that string of whininess, I’ve kind of done a 180 about how I manage my time and how I need to fit writing and creativity into my day. I’m adopting a no more excuses state of mind. I just set a timer for 25 minutes and that is all the time that I am going to dedicate to writing this morning. I’m using the Pomodoro Technique something … [Read more...] about you say tomato
