Since I started blogging, I’ve struggled with the question, “What is your blog about?”
For awhile I was saying, “You know, life. And stuff.”
So eloquent. That was usually met with blank stares.
Then for awhile I was talking about tuning in and being connected to ourselves and to our lives.
That was pretty good, but tune in reminded me too much of Lean In. And I’m not going there.
Then it was easier for me to say what my blog was not – it’s not a mommy blog even though I am a mom or a fashion blog even though I love fashion or a DIY blog even though I’ve been known to do things myself or a food blog even though I make delicious food every day.
And it’s not a lifestyle blog. It’s more of a life is happening right now so you better get it together blog.
But I also know that in order to really share what I’m doing and grow this project I need to be able to talk about it in a way that people (including myself) understand. And then my friend launched her blog with such a great sense of purpose and mission that I thought, I need to get my act together on this.
So I took a nap, and when I woke up the first thing I thought was –
Get real.
Let’s get real.
And it hit me.
My blog is about getting real.
The real stuff that makes up our lives – real experiences, real struggles, real beauty, real messes, real joy, real complexities.
I want it all and so should you.
I want to be real. To tell it like it is.
To share a whole, bold, mindful, authentic life.
I’m on a mission to get real.
Are you with me?
Let’s get real.
I live it! I’m in. I look forward to every post.
I meant LOVE it.
You should live it AND love it. Why not both??!?!
I think this is a beautiful and thought-provoking way to describe your blog–and it’s a perfect way for your uniqueness to shine through and keep inspiring people (because that’s what you do). I’m with ya!
Thanks Stef for inspiring me to take it to the next level. Let’s keep pushing each other!
Your blog is charming and super close to my voice … I often say “get real” and starting a new romantic relationship has made me do just that get real…i have embarked On a Personal inventory, much like the blog……. BLOG on sister
Thanks Marty. I’m so happy that you are on a new romantic journey. I think if you can start out real, then you’re way ahead of the game. Beginnings are a great time to do that inventory. I would just love to sit and talk with you for hours and hours. Maybe some day.
