Parenting book titles i would add to the shelf

Ever since the Reading Rainbow song looped non-stop in my head as a child (you’re welcome), I’ve been on the look out for titles that speak to me. I have a special soft spot for books of the how-to and self-help variety. I take great comfort in the idea that other people have been there, and I’m not alone in my quest for answers.

I’ve noticed a few gaps on the parenting bookshelf. My inner librarian would like to see these titles the next time I’m browsing Barnes & Noble…

Does it feel like your house is being overrun by oversized BPA hazards? It only takes a glue gun and some gumption to turn that crap into stylish accessories that would make Nate Berkus weep with envy.

Like these? Come over to my Facebook page or follow the Pinterest board. I’ll be posting new titles to the library daily for the next two weeks. Or until I run out of ideas.

#tenyearsaparent is a weekly blog series about what I’ve learned in my first ten years as a parent. Whether you’re a parent nodding in agreement or shaking your head with disgust or a non-parent using these posts as birth control (the surgeon general wants me to tell you that reading blog posts about parenting is not an effective form of birth control), I’ll be spilling the beans on what parenting is really all about.

#10yearsaparent, books and reading, just plain funny humor, parenting advice, parenting books

My personal favourite is the first: How to Decorate with Big Plastic Crap. Story of my goddamn life, haha.

    LOL, these are hilarious…

I’ve noticed an increasing trend to title posts and such with these “click-baity” titles and I’m getting pretty annoyed with it. So much, in fact, that I’m finding myself much LESS likely to click on them.

    So I’d contribute:

Thanks Dakota! I hear you on the click bait titles recently – it seems to be getting out of control. I LOVE your contributions. I definitely need to add a cookbook to my growing library. And a big yes to the toys they want vs. what they need (or will actually play with for more than five minutes). We have a whole arsenal of elaborate Nerf guns because we did not do a good job with this…live and learn!

SO FUNNY! I hate parenting books but I would buy these. And what? Not all moms are yoga pants wearing winos? Say that’s not true right now. Seriously – that should be a meme. Loved this!!
