People keep asking, How was your summer?
And I keep replying, Great.
It was. I genuinely feel great about it.
I wanted to have a balance of busy and not busy. Activities and free time. On the road and home. And I think we did exactly that.
But what did we do exactly?
Already, the days are getting blurry.
This post is really for me. To remind myself of all of the fun things we did and the adventures we had. I want this one last moment of summer before I turn myself over to fall.
I’m challenging you to do the same. As the days get shorter and the papers from school pile up and the leaves start to collect at your feet, look back at summer. Remember what made it special.
Create your own mental scrapbook of all the hot dogs. All the ice cream. All the sunscreen. All the barefoot, blackened feet. All the hours logged in the car on the crest of a new adventure.
Leave all the bickering and the never-ending days and the never-ending packing, lugging and unpacking behind.
I’ve never been much of a summer person, but I think I’m starting to get it.
So tell me, How was your summer?
Great idea. Looks like a fun summer.
It was fun. When it was all said and done, it was fun.
