There are some lessons that we have to learn over and over again.
That doesn’t make them any easier. It actually makes it even more frustrating – haven’t I already been here before?
I’m feeling less than inspired this week, and I can’t seem to put my finger on what is holding me back. So I’ve dusted off a few of my tried and true techniques for getting out of a rut:
1. Start small. Just do one tiny thing, but start.
2. Be good to your body. Exercise, make good food choices, get plenty of sleep.
3. Make room. Clean something out. Create a new system. Clear out the physical and mental clutter.
4. Watch less. Engage more. When I want to retreat the most is when I should reach out.
5. Try something new. A place, a food, a way of doing things. Shake things up.
And when all of the above fail to untangle me, I remind myself that some things you can’t think your way out of.
Some things you can’t do your way out of.
You just have to wait. Be still and wait.
This is the lesson I have to learn over and over again.
Patience.
