it’s over

over

It’s over. Absolutely, positively over.

The good news: we rocked this summer.

I was nervous. And then I changed my attitude.

And it’s been great. It’s actually been mostly pleasant and surprisingly fun.

The bad news: we peaked too early.

To all of you who have already started school, as I begrudgingly like your pictures on Facebook, I’m not-so-secretly envious of you.

It’s the last week of summer for us, and I’m done. Checked out.

The positive attitude, the creative ideas, the patience, they have all left the building.

The camp counselor part of me is hiding out behind the arts and crafts room sneaking stolen cigarettes.

All that’s left is Wii, some room temperature Capri Suns and begging.

Please, please, please, stop fighting with your brother. Please.

I don’t want to

go anywhere

play anything

make anything

buy anything

do anything

schedule anything

coordinate anything

I’m sick of

setting boundaries

enforcing rules

negotiating terms

engaging them

feeding them

talking to them

It’s time for someone else to take over. Someone who gets paid.

Someone who has made a career out of dealing with other people’s children. (My own personal nightmare.)

Go.

Go to school.

It’s been fun.

But it’s time to go.

Back to school.

family life, just plain funny

Yes!….After an early “meet your teacher day”, KG is starting 8 days after the others and so this week is…..just too long. No more siblings fights but so much more “I’m bored!” I cannot think of anything else to do, except mommy time! Love this post!

You must be beyond thrilled it’s the first day! You did it! Another summer in the books.

I was pretty sure that I wasn’t the only one smoking cigarettes behind the arts and crafts room. As always, thanks for keepin’ it real, Kaly!!

So true. We start school next week and I remember those days. No more fun at the town pool complex (too boring), no interest in anything except TV and video games.

Now we have summer HW in middle school and high school. Math & English & German & social studies work over the summer. And we wait to the last week of summer when the books are all checked out of the library and your mother turns into a lunatic b/c the work will not be completed before the first day if school.

Add that to the end of summer blues. Such fun. I get to be the homework police before school even starts. FUN!

Summer homework? Ooof. Completely unprepared for that. Glad to know my kids (and myself) aren’t the only ones that have lost interest in summer.
