jeans

I’m sitting on a bench with my husband waiting for a train.

I make some benign comment about the complexities of dressing for spring weather.

Or maybe I said, will it ever get warm?

And he says…

Maybe we could get you some new jeans.

Me: New jeans?

Him: Yeah, new jeans.

He gestures to the small rubbed worn patch at my hip.

Me: These are new jeans.

Him: Really?

Me: These are my new, trendy boyfriend jeans.

Him: Those are new?

Me: Yep.

Him: Really?

Me: Yep.

Him: That’s totally what they look like. Old boyfriend jeans.

Me: Yep.

Him: Huh.

He never had a chance.

just plain funny
