read

Reading is my favorite pastime and my nightstand is always stacked high with books that I’m making my way through.  I thought I’d share what’s camped out there these days.

And because I’ve always wondered who has the job of writing the descriptions of movies and television shows that pop up through your cable, I challenged myself to write a synopsis/review in less than 140 characters, Twitter style, and this is what I came up with.

Gutbliss, Dr. Robynne Chutkan M.D. – Ignore goofy title. Woman dr treats causes of gut distress, not the symptoms. Recipes too. Want to buy for every woman I know #guthealth

Still Life with Breadcrumbs, Anna Quindlen – My current fiction read. Female photographer leaves city for restart in country. What could go wrong? #reboot #iloveanna

Bread & Wine, Shauna Niequist – A writer’s ode to the food we eat and the table where we gather. Food as nourishment for the soul. Recipes worth trying #lovelovelove

Traveling with Pomegranates, Sue Monk Kidd & Ann Kidd Taylor – A mother and daughter memoir of traveling together and their parallel spiritual and personal journeys #readingwithmymom

FirstLight, Sue Monk Kidd – Accessible and relatable essays about finding and feeling God in the simple moments of our lives #touchstone

Brooklyn, Colm Toibin – Recommended by friend. My next fiction read. Novel about Irish woman making her way in America post WWII #incrediblejourneys

Flannery, Brad Gooch – Stuck on this very detailed biography but want to keep pushing through #loveflannerybutthisistorture

There you have it. What I’m reading or almost reading, Twitter style. Anything spark your interest?

Have a very real weekend.
