A lot of resolution buzz going around this week. My favorite take was over at Trouvé Magazine which you should check out anyway because it’s a beautiful and honest ode to the creative lifestyle. Enjoy life seems about the best resolution around.

And while I’m not personally one for resolutions, I do like a little challenge to shake things up especially with the long month of January stretches out coldly ahead of me. (Speaking of a long, cold January, this version of Snowstorms, Then & Now on Mc Sweeney’s will crack you up.)

So I’ve signed up for two challenges…want to join me?

Over at Live in the Grey, they’re running a 10 Day Risk Challenge. Every day starting January 20th, they will prompt you to take a small risk. It’s a free way to get a little out of your comfort zone and try some new things. It fits well with a mantra I’m rolling over from 2013 – Don’t be a chicken shit.

I’ve also signed up for Real Simple’s Get Real on the Internet Week, January 13 – 17 which is a movement to bring a dose of reality back to social media. They’ll send daily prompts to inspire you to share the whole picture of your life, not just the pretty parts. Let’s get real people.

And finally, I have to know – on Sunday will you be watching Tina & Amy on the GG’s, Downton Abbey or the premier of GIRLS? There must be a personality test in here somewhere. I’m going for the laughs and the fashion and will be watching the Golden Globes and catching up with the rest later. If you’re a GIRLS fan, don’t miss this parody starring, yes, kittens. Very cute.

Have a very real weekend.

You bring up a very real dilemma. I had already thought about the fact that Downton Abbey and GIRLS would conflict, but I had not even considered the Golden Globes! Probably not going to miss that one. Plus, I already have a plan in place for GIRLS, which is to hold off on watching Season 3 for as far into it as I can stand–this is simply because in the half-hour format I prefer to binge and watch a whole bunch of them at once. Not sure if my will power last long though. I’ll give some consideration to the 10 day risk challenge.

I didn’t even mention the other two shows, The Good Wife and Revenge, that also conflicted. Weeks without decent tv and now I can’t keep up. I like the idea of storing up GIRLS. So the premier was two episodes…want to have a challenge and see how long we can make it?

You’ve already won. I caved and watched them last night, but that was only after saw that there were two of them (and I’ve decided not to shame myself for this moment of weakness). I’m pretty sure 62 minutes of programming doesn’t constitute a binge, but it is 32 minutes more than I was expecting. I’ll have to stock pile at least 2 or 3 more before I tune in again though.

I’m still holding out! Not sure I’ll make it past Sunday but you never know.
