What a week. I’m reeling a little bit from my recent guest post opportunities, some back to back travel, and all the odds and ends of getting Good Move ready to be released into the world.
I am excited to share some new work that I think you will like as well as some old classics in new places. If you have a minute to check any of these out, please comment, like, and share. It really does make a difference in this bloggy, writing world.
1. The Mid: Am I Raising A Praise Junkie?
I was introduced to this site a few weeks ago when I noticed that a few writers that I admire started posting there. And I thought to myself, I want in. I’m hoping this is my first of many pieces over there. It’s a kick-ass site. I wrote this essay after my sons’ parent teacher conferences, because they really made me think about how we are raising our kids to thrive in an environment of praise. And that’s not really how the real world works. I would love to know what you think.
2. Opt-Out Revolutionary: A Spring Cleaning Guide for Your Marriage
This is another site that I am loving right now. My friend Stefanie is creating a great little community, and I was happy to join the conversation with a humorous but practical piece about relationship health.
3. Mommikin: Writing A Book in 34 Easy Steps
I got into a little Twitter convo with the editor at Mommikin because I really like their focus on creativity. Next thing I knew, she was asking me if they could run a piece from my blog. Flattered and shocked, I tried to act cool like editors troll my site for content all of the time. If you missed this piece in its first run, it’s a spoof on the glamorous life of an author.
4. Scary Mommy: Why I Refuse to Feel Guilty About Screen Time
Screen time is such a hot topic. Scary Mommy picked this piece up about the emotions parents have around screens. This one was published first on my blog and then featured on BlogHer so you might have already seen it. (I told you screen time was hot.)
Hope you enjoy these. Thanks for checking them out.

I read all of these as I saw them on FB and really enjoyed them! Congrats on getting on The Mid and Mommikin. The Praise Junkie piece was awesome… I too am a praise junkie and it took me a few years to figure that out. I’m still figuring out to really get over that. To try and head it off for my kids, ‘m working hard to praise them for their hard work and tenacity instead of “being smart.” I don’t know if that will solve the issue for them entirely, but it’s at least a start…
