When I started writing this book, my goal was to create the book I wish I had when my family was moving.
Today I thought I’d share my five favorite things about Good Move:
1. Making the decision to move: This book is designed so that no matter what your family’s circumstances, you can understand your wants and needs and lay the framework for the really tough decisions that you’ll encounter when considering a move. Relocation is a great time to reevaluate what is working and not working for your family. This book gives you the tools to make strategic, informed decisions.
2. Exposing moving fraud: When my family relocated in 2013, we were victims of an unscrupulous and fraudulent moving company. Needless to say, it was not a pleasant experience. I wanted this book to educate consumers about moving fraud, because I don’t want other families having the same experience. In this book, I share our whole moving story and tap into an industry expert so that what happened to us does not happen to you.
3. Relo Reality & Smart Moves: Two features of the book that I think make it really unique are the real stories and experiences of families that have taken on relocating and smart tips for making any move smoother. Millions of families move every year, why recreate the wheel?
4. It’s a transition: While tips and advice on logistics are important, there’s also the emotional side of a move–what it feels like to be in transition for parents and for kids as well as some ideas for dealing when things get stressful and hairy. Which at some point, they will.
5. Real Relocations: Many different types of families shared their experiences–families that built homes, moved down the block, across town, to other states, and even other countries. Each family profile gives an inside look into their toughest challenges and their biggest successes.
Moving is stressful. There’s no way to get around it. And Good Move does not sugar coat it. When you decide to move your family, you take on a crazy, big endeavor.
But every family relocating wants the same thing. They want to move toward a better life for their family.
This book helps you define a better life on your own terms. With that knowledge in hand, you can make it a Good Move.
Good Move will be available February 2015.
