Hello there. I’m back from the beach and as usual I am having a really hard time transitioning back to the real world.
It seems the only thing I am motivated to do is plot how I can live at the beach for the entire summer next year. Some days just keeping everyone fed and alive seems like an accomplishment and yesterday was one of those days.
But today is a new day, and I’m hoping that this post will be the gateway to a very productive week that involves a lot of sibling harmony and self-entertainment. Dreams are important, right?
To kick it off (and remind myself that I actually have quite a bit of work to do), I’m excited to introduce you to the company that I’ve recently co-founded – Harlow Park Media.
If you don’t know the story of HPM, and how it came to be here is the quick version.
Girl loves books.
Boy meets girl.
Boy and girl marry, have some kids.
Boy writes book.
Girl writes book.
Boy and girl join forces to put books into the world.
That’s the short version. It doesn’t include all the hemming and hawing and back and forth and fear and doubt. But at the end of the day, it became clear that we have more to lose by not trying than by trying and failing. We’ve decided to go for it, have a little faith in ourselves and trust. Trust that we are enough, and have enough to figure it out.
That hasn’t been an easy journey for me as I tend to overthink everything, worry too much about what people think, and struggle with perfectionism. But as I’ve learned to push myself to the edges of my comfort zone, this path has revealed itself and it feels really, really right.
Check out the site, follow us on social media and sign up for our email list. Our first two products come out this fall, and we’ll definitely want to keep you in the loop. Even though I’ll be blogging over at HPM, I’m keeping this personal blog so I can rant and rave about all things related to authenticity and my attempts to live a mindful, connected life.
